Assess the health of your bones and other weight-bearing body structures with safe, low-dose radiation exposure.
What is an X-ray?
An X-ray scan offers a non-invasive way to assess the health of your bones and other weight-bearing body structures. The digital x-ray quickly provides two-dimensional, anatomical images with a low radiation dose to support in-depth clinical evaluation.
Our GE Definium 8000 dual-energy (dual-scan) digital X-Ray scanner provides outstanding speed, sensitivity, contrast and resolution to produce weight-bearing images of the entire body. This state-of-the-art X-Ray system reduces radiation doses and minimizes the need for retakes. At Centric Health, we will ensure you have a safe, comfortable examination with high-quality images to support a confident diagnosis.
Types of X-ray scans
Centric Health offers the following X-Ray scan services:
A bone X-Ray can reveal fractures, infections, and bone cancer. Special x-ray scans can also be used to measure bone density.
An Arthritis X-Ray examines the joints to reveal arthritis and indicate the degree of incurred damage.
A Dental X-Ray can uncover dental decay, cavities, and other problems related to the mouth, jaw and teeth.
A Chest X-Ray is used to detect lung infections and other conditions, including pneumonia, tuberculosis, or lung cancer.
Abdomen X-rays can help to diagnose digestive track problems. Abdominal x-rays can also reveal non-digestible items swallowed by children.
What to expect during an X-ray
During your appointment, one of our expert x-ray technician will escort you into the x-ray scanning room and have you lie on the padded table. You may be asked to stay very still for a short time in order to minimize body movement and produce a clearer image. Your x-ray technologist will monitor you throughout the entire procedure. One of our radiologists or your patient care coordinator will fully explain the specific details of your upcoming examination.
The actual scan portion of the x-ray only takes a few seconds. New digital technology also reduces the elapsed time between scanning and image reconstruction.
After your X-ray
Our radiologists will carefully analyze your x-ray images and provide a report to your physician. Once he or she has received the report, your physician can discuss the results with you. Your technologist will also give you a CD, DVD or USB containing the x-ray images when you leave our clinic.

X-rays are safe and effective diagnostic procedures. Millions of x-ray exams are performed across Canada every year without complications. Additionally, the GE dual-scan digital x-ray unit has been designed with dose reduction features that significantly minimize your radiation exposure.
Digital X-Ray diagnostic imaging is supported by the Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists (CAMRT), which provides continuing education, certification, and a registry of radiologic technologists.
