VenaSeal™ is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat varicose veins.
What is VenaSeal™ Vascular Adhesive?
VenaSeal™ is a minimally invasive, endovenous procedure to treat varicose veins. Under ultrasound guidance, a small catheter is inserted into a vein in your calf or thigh and then advanced towards your groin. A medical-grade cyanoacrylate polymer (adhesive) is then injected into the affected vessel using a specialized adhesive applicator. Under ultrasound guidance, we ‘glue’ the entire length of the vein shut. Over time, the closed vein is eventually absorbed by the body.
VenaSeal yields similar outcomes to radiofrequency ablation but eliminates the need for tumescent anesthesia and compression stockings; it also eliminates the risk of potential heat damage to adjacent nerves and skin. We are proud that EVA Vein Care was chosen to perform the first VenaSeal™ procedures in North America and we are considered world experts in its use.
About vein disease
Spider, reticular, and varicose veins appear when damaged valves allow blood to reverse flow (reflux) and pool in the veins below the skin – typically on the legs and ankles. Aging, pregnancy, hormonal changes, weight gain and long hours spent standing can lead to the development of abnormal veins; genetics and lifestyle can also play a role in their development. These abnormal veins can result in aching, swelling, night cramps, leg fatigue, itching and burning. In advanced disease, varicose veins can result in skin thickening and ulcerations.
If you’re frustrated with discolored, twisted and painful veins, the physicians at EVA Vein Care offer a variety of treatment options to eliminate those unsightly discolored veins and bulges.
Benefits of VenaSeal™
VenaSeal offers several distinct advantages over other procedures:
- No painful tumescent anesthesia or general anesthesia
- No wearing compression stockings following the procedure
- No risk of heat damage to nearby nerves or skin
- Return to normal activity within 24 hrs
